Stem Cells possible treatments on diseases

We have been hearing a lot about stem cell banks and cord blood banks and about stem cells in general with the breakthrough made by scientists and the debate around the use of human stem cells. Finally, we do not know a lot about how those stem cells are extracted and then stored in stem cell banks. Why also do not know really which diseases could be cured with the help of treatments based on stem cells.

Stem cells can be extracted from adult tissues or cord blood. Once extracted they can be frozen by liquid nitrogen and then stored in a stem cell bank, or a laboratory if it is for scientist use. The extraction of stem cells is a very simple process that can be done in many medical places and laboratories.
Those stem cells seem to be of better quality so to speak when they are extracted from the cord blood rather than from the bone marrow, and that is why it is asked to parents to be to make up their mind about whether or not they want to use stem cell banks to store their baby’s stem cells in case at some point in their life the grown kid has a disease and needs stem cells to help him or her.

The research done by scientists all around the world aim at providing solutions to cure various diseases.
Some examples of diseases that could possibly be cured by a treatment coming from the use of stem cells are brain diseases like Parkinson or Alzheimer but also blood diseases like leukemia.
The more scientists work on stem cells, and the more they discover that could help human being.

The study of human stem cells also tell us a lot about the development of the human body itself. This would allow scientists to understand better how various diseases like cancer for example work and appear.

The development of public and private stem cell banks is a result of the growth of studies and also results on stem cells, as well as the discoveries that have been made and the increasing possibilities that stem cells can help in the treatment of some diseases.

A lot of countries like the United Kingdom for instance, believe in the importance to work on stem cells and study them to help in the treatment of diseases, and bigger budgets start being allocated to researches around stem cells.
