Netbooks Are Popular Airport Companions
Netbooks are a recent trend in the computer industry. In an effort to get more and more portable and convenient, computer manufacturers are taking the laptop a step further and giving the consumer something that can easily be taken almost anywhere in a simple bag or purse. They are compact and easy to use, even in a crowded airport.
We’ve all been there. Sitting around, waiting an extremely long time before we can even board the flight or counting the hours until a delayed flight arrives. This can, if you’re not careful, lead to a lot of unproductive (or simply boring) time. You could have taken a laptop because they are fairly portable, but a netbook may still be the better choice.
Laptops have gotten progressively smaller and more portable, but it can still be hard to use them in tight quarters and they can generate a lot of heat. If you are going to rest it on your lap for extended periods of time, which can be fairly uncomfortable. Of course, all computers generate heat, but netbooks are more energy efficient and let you use them longer. And their smaller size means you don’t have to rest them in one spot as long.
It’s important to note, however, that netbooks were never meant for heavy usage. You won’t see any hardcore gamers setting up a netbook in an airport to get in a quick game. Netbooks are more appropriate for those who want to watch their movies, keep in touch with their favorite multimedia sites, or just listen to some music.
A netbook is not as powerful as a full-featured laptop, but there are still a number of qualities that make it worthwhile, especially if you have to do extensive travelling. First of all, the price is set much lower than standard laptops. Netbooks let you stay in touch without breaking the bank.
Another benefit is the smaller size. Most netbooks are between nine and eleven inches across. That means they are also comparatively light weight, which means you it won’t drag you down as you quickly make your way across the airport terminal to catch a flight.
The good news is that netbooks are equipped with some top-of-the-line wireless equipment, and there will be many places in an airport that will allow you to connect to the Internet. This means you can spend your time taking care of your emails, playing on social media sites, or using any other of your favorite online applications.
Netbooks have been growing in popularity and developing their technology. Every model incorporates new features in the slimmed-down design. If you have to travel a lot and spend countless hours in different airports, this might be the way to remain productive no matter what.
