As the founder of The Uniform Project, Matheiken will wear one dress for one year all in the name of charity and sustainable fashion.
For the “uniform” part of the project, Matheiken drew inspiration from the school uniforms of her childhood in India — they served as a blank slate for creativity.
Donations raised by this year-long project will benefit the Akanksha Foundation,wedding dresses a grassroots charity based in Mumbai, whose contributions go to fund uniforms and other school expenses for children in the slums of India.
